Plan the Ultimate Summer Barbecue Party!

Summer is beginning! It's time to go get the propane or charcoal for your grill, clean up the patio furniture, and fill up the pool. So what kinds of summer fun can you plan for the summer time?

OK, we all understand that summer is hot! And who wants to be slaving over a hot stove when it's hot outside? Not me, that's for sure! My favorite thing to make during the summer is pasta salad. It's quick, and really easy to be creative with! There are so many different forms of pasta, from spirals to elbows to shells, and even bowtie shaped pasta. These pasta salad recipes will get your summer barbecue party off to a GREAT start! Do you want some pasta recipes? Here's one of my family's favorites:

Vegetable Pasta Salad

Ingredients:

2 bags tri-colored spiral pasta

One head of fresh broccoli

2 carrots

One cucumber

1 8-oz block of cheese (your favorite flavor)

1 bottle of your favorite Ranch dressing

Cook pasta. Rinse pasta in cool water. Chop up broccoli, dice carrots, cucumbers and cheese. Add all ingredients together in a bowl. Mix in the bottle of Ranch dressing. Refrigerate for at least two hours. Serve chilled.

To cook up a truly delicious meal, you just have to include your grill. Here's one of my all time grill recipes, created by my husband (who LOVES to cook):

Dave's Taco Burger

2 lb. hamburger

3 packages of Old El Paso Taco Seasoning

2 eggs

Topping:

Old El Paso Zesty Ranch Taco Topper

Grated Cheese

Diced Tomatoes

Shredded Lettuce

Sour Cream

Your favorite Taco Sauce

Jalapeno Peppers

Mix the hamburger and eggs in a bowl. Mix in Taco Seasoning. Shape into patties. Cook as desired on grill. Serve on bun, with desired toppings.

Now that you have some delicious recipes, you need the perfect patio furniture! Decide on what type you need first. How much seating do you need? What style do you like: glass table, built-in umbrella, round table, square table, rectangular table...the selections are numerous! How much money do you have to spend? No one likes to worry about fire ants or mosquitoes when they are trying to enjoy a great summer barbecue! For the typical flying pests, citronella candles work wonders; however, they don't smell very pretty. An alternative choice is bug repelling lanterns that you can buy at Lowe's, Home Depot, or even Wal-mart. These have a dual purpose: they can light your barbecue party (if it's in the evening) and get rid of bugs.

Fire ants can be a little trickier to eliminate. Luckily for you northerners, fire ants are mostly in the southern states. So while you may have the annoyance of black ants, the southern states have the little carnivorous red ants that sting when they bite! Some people are even allergic, and if you have enough bites simultaneously, it can kill you. Therefore, it is vital to come up with a product to eliminate fire ants from your yard, and your summer barbecue party. Amdro is a great product to use, and has been one of the few I have found that really works.
